Professional Photographer Steven Pam Steven Pam Melbourne NS 3055 Australia Photography

Steven was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1970 and developled aninterest in photography from about the age of seven.One day his Mother lent him her little Kodak 110 Instamatic and he wentstraight out and started shooting whatever weird things he liked thelook of. The first time Steven looked through an SLR he was immediatelyenchanted by the image on the ground glass screen. In high school hehad the oportunity to shoot, develop, and print rolls and rolls ofblack-and-white film at his parents' expense. Some of the weirdpictures Steven took then are still some of his favourites. After finishing high school Steven did a few different jobs, includingworking at a 7-11, driving taxis, and managing a carwash! Finally hedecided to get serious and went to London to seek work as aphotographer's assistant. Steven spent about a year and a halflearning the ropes with Lizzie Orme, who mostly shot interiors (studioand location) for books and women's magazines. Lizzie was getting morework than she could possibly handle, so she ended up referring some ofher clients to Steven. Thanks to this arrangement he ended up workingwith magazines Bella, Inspirations for Your Home and Prima, as well aspart-works Home Magic and Needlecraft Magic. He also worked on a craftbook, Lampshades.Finally the time came to return home to Melbourne. Unfortunately thismeant losing his medium format equipment, since it was leased, but thisgave Steven the opportunity to broaden his skills, especially incomputing, by working in other fields. Eventually Steven acquired the gear he needed and returned tophotography full-time. In 2001 one of Steven's photographs was selected for the prestigiousFuji ACMP Australian Photographer's Collection 8, and will toured nationally with this exhibition.
